The Floh Reel | The Ones that Inspire

It’s that time of the month again. If only I had a penny for every time I said that statement in agony, I’d have a lot of pennies.

You’re the woman in control, so whether you’d curl up in a ball, take an endless nap or eat everything in sight, we’ve compiled a list of five must watch movies that’ll lift that nasty PMSy mood.

1. Eat Pray Love

As you watch this movie about self discovery, balance, and finding happiness, eat all the ice cream in the world, pray for your period to be over quickly, and love this indoor time you have with yourself.

2. The Devil Wears Prada

Starring Anne Hathway and Meryl Streep, watch how a young journalist finds herself as an assistant to New York’s biggest fashion magazine editor, Miranda Priestly – who happens to be as ruthless as your period. Take this as an inspiration, don’t let your period bring you down.

3. Legally Blonde

As legend Elle Woods famously said, “What, like it’s hard?”, you know you can take over the world, you just need a little push. But for now, just curl up on your bed and watch one of the most badass and inspirational, and unapologetically feminine films made! And keep this movie in mind next time someone undermines you of your worth.

4. Princess Diaries

Nell Minow couldn’t have put it better: “This is a great big luscious lollypop of a movie, terrific fun for girls of any age and for their families, too.” A feel good movie for all ages.

5. Mulan

Many years before Frozen became the feminist iconic disney film, we had Mulan – The first (and only) Disney warrior princess. Relatable as it gets, Mulan had to pick her battles as she snuck into the army to fight the invading Huns, she also provides all the motivation you need to fight those period cramps.

This list, paired with a nice cup of tea and some crampfrees is the perfect way to get through the days you just can’t.

These are just some of our favorites for gloomy days when we’re indoors stuck with our periods and it’s best friend cramps, but we’d love to know your favorites too!
